The Story Behind SUNFLEX
Got Questions About SUNFLEX Zip Blinds?
We design SUNFLEX Zip Blinds for people who care about the little things. People who believe great design should make life better, last for years, and bring comfort and ease into daily living.
Whether it’s a balcony, patio, or outdoor extension of your home, SUNFLEX Zip Blinds is made for those who value quality, comfort, and thoughtful details.
SUNFLEX Zip Blinds are designed with performance in mind. Our standard perforated fabrics help block out heat and harsh sunlight, while limiting airflow, so cool air stays in, and the space stays comfortable even in Singapore’s heat.
If you’re looking to create a more enclosed feel with minimal airflow, we also offer non-perforated fabric options. Just let us know what you need, and we’ll recommend the best setup for your space. (Additional charges may apply.)
Yes, SUNFLEX Zip Blinds can be fully lowered or fully retracted during windy conditions. However, we don’t recommend leaving them halfway, as that position can make the system more vulnerable to wind pressure.
When operating the blinds on windy days, we suggest doing so with care. For smoother movement, especially with smaller panels, you can apply gentle support on the bottom rail while raising or lowering. To reduce wind draft or suction, it’s also a good idea to close your sliding doors before operating the blinds: this small step can make a noticeable difference in performance.
SUNFLEX Zip Blinds are designed to handle Singapore’s ever-changing weather. They provide excellent protection against light to moderate rain and are especially effective at keeping rain out, helping to reduce water exposure and keep your balcony space comfortable and usable.
However, during heavy downpours with strong winds, some water may still pass through the perforated mesh fabric. This is a natural trait of breathable outdoor materials, which are designed to balance airflow, light control, and weather protection.
Even with 100% blockout fabric, there are natural limitations. Over time, silicone sealant may wear off, and during intense rain, water can still find its way through corners or small gaps.
Yes, but with a little care! While SUNFLEX Zip Blinds significantly improve the comfort of your outdoor space by offering sun shading, rain protection (to a reasonable extent), and keeping insects out, the area is still considered semi-outdoor.
That’s why we encourage using outdoor-grade furniture wherever possible. It’s designed to withstand the elements. If that’s not an option, look for pieces with some level of water resistance or flexibility for outdoor use.
Just a friendly reminder: Track-guided blinds are designed to elevate your living space, but they don’t turn your balcony into a fully enclosed indoor room. They’re still blinds, and naturally come with some limitations during heavy rain or extreme weather.
With the right furniture choices, you’ll enjoy a more comfortable and longer-lasting setup.
Not at all. The headrail and side channels are made from high-grade architectural aluminium, finished with a textured powder coating, ensuring long-term durability and rust-free performance, even in Singapore’s humid weather.
SUNFLEX Zip Blinds is built with intention. It is fully motorised by design, with no manual override. By removing unnecessary components, the system achieves a cleaner look and reduces the chances of things going wrong over time.
We use only PowerView® motorisation, designed for reliability, precision, and long-term performance. And when motor replacement is eventually needed after years of use, our dedicated team is always ready to assist promptly and professionally to ensure a smooth experience.
Yes, light creases are completely normal and part of the fabric’s natural characteristics.
These marks can appear due to the way the fabric is rolled and packed during shipment, especially at the edges. Once installed, the fabric may also expand or contract slightly with changes in heat, wind, and humidity, all of which are common in outdoor settings.
To help the fabric settle, we recommend leaving the blinds fully down for a period of time. In most cases, the creases will gradually ease out on their own over a few weeks.
We offer a 5-year warranty on the motor and mechanism, along with a 2-year labour warranty.
Fabric warranties vary depending on the range you choose, but all come with a limited warranty against manufacturing defects.
Please note: Different fabrics may carry different warranty terms and price points based on their material and performance. (Speak with our team to learn more.)
Creases or sagging in the fabric are not covered under warranty, as these can naturally develop over time from weather exposure and general wear and tear.
In some cases, slight tension irregularities may occur if the blinds are operated during strong wind, which can affect how the fabric settles within the tracks.
That said, if the sagging is due to a manufacturing or measurement defect, we’ll absolutely make it right. These issues are typically noticeable right after installation, and our team will be happy to assess and provide the appropriate support.
Note: When installed correctly and within the recommended size limits, sagging or warping, often referred to as the “smiley face” effect, should not occur. The system is engineered to maintain proper tension and alignment when used as intended.
However, over the years, prolonged exposure to outdoor elements like heat and wind may cause the fabric to expand slightly. As with any outdoor material, some degree of sagging may gradually appear over time. This is considered a natural part of long-term wear, especially in Singapore’s climate.
Yes, we offer a one-to-one replacement for any defective or faulty PowerView® motors within the warranty period, ensuring minimal downtime and a seamless experience.
The maximum size depends on the total surface area and the type of fabric selected.
For standard setups using thicker polyester fabric (commonly used in Singapore), the recommended maximum height is up to 3,500mm. Anything beyond this will cause the bottom bar to sit slightly lower. This is because the headrail is intentionally kept compact to suit typical home heights of 2,700mm to 3,000mm, without adding unnecessary bulk.
We also offer fibreglass fabric, which is thinner and allows for taller drops of up to 5,000mm, depending on the width and configuration.
The maximum width is 4,800mm, and larger widths can be explored upon request. Just let your dealer know. The maximum surface area is 13.5 sqm or 145 sqft.
Update: We are currently developing a slightly larger headrail that still maintains a sleek appearance while supporting greater heights. If you would like to learn more or be notified once it is ready, feel free to contact any of our dealers.
Yes, absolutely. SUNFLEX Zip Blinds use Somfy RTS motors, which can be easily connected to your smart home using the Somfy Tahoma. This allows you to control your blinds through voice commands with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or directly from your smartphone, including creating scene settings for different times of day.
For wired smart home systems like Lutron, Control4, or others, integration is also possible. While we do not offer that motor range locally, we are happy to explore options and assist with your setup.
Just let any of our dealers know, and we’ll be glad to support you.
